APNGOs to continue strike as talks fail

Hyderabad, August 14 : The indefinite strike launched by nearly four lakh employees affiliated with the Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers (APNGOs) Association demanding that the Centre keep State united would continue following failure of talks between the striking employees and State Government.

Talking to reporters later, APNGOs President P Ashok Babu said that the strike would continue although the employees have agreed to participate in Independence Day celebrations on Thursday. He said that the APNGOs would conduct a meeting on August 16 at Guntur to decide the future course of action.

Meanwhile, the entire administration, especially in the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions remained paralysed for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. While nearly 12,000 RTC buses remained off the roads, educational institutions and commercial establishments remained closed on Wednesday. The services in the State Secretariat were badly hit due to the strike. INN
