Congress Core Committee meeting begins at PM’s residence

New Delhi, July 26 : The crucial meeting of the Congress Core Committee began here on Friday evening amid speculations that it would discuss the Telangana issue.

The meeting, being held at Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s residence, gains significance as it could include Telangana in the agenda for the next meeting of Congress Working Committee, which has been authorised to take a final decision on the statehood issue. The meeting is being attended by the Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Ahmed Patel, AK Antony, Sushil Kumar Shinde, P Chidambaram, Digvijay Singh and Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Earlier in the day, Digvijay Singh and Azad held separate meetings with PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana and Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on the Telangana issue. INN
