TDP asks CM to withdraw Bayyaram mines proposal

Hyderabad, April 20 : The Telugu Desam Party leaders on Saturday demanded that the State Government withdraw its proposal to allot Bayyaram mines to Visakha Steel Plant.

Talking to reporters after submitting a memorandum to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on the issue, Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageswara Rao said that his party would not permit shifting of iron ore from Bayyaram under any circumstance. He also claimed that the Chief Minister has agreed to set up a steel plant at Bayyaram.

Another TDP leader Thummala Nageswara Rao said that Bayyaram mines belonged to the Telangana region and this could not be shifted to any other region in the State.

The TDP leaders also slammed Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao for remaining silent when former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy alloted Bayyaram mines to his son-in-law Anil Kumar. They claimed that the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu raised the issue long back while the TRS leader maintained questionable silence on the issue. INN
